Mothers and Babies with Special Needs

The Antepartum Special Care Unit is a 35 bed unit designed to provide comfortable, comprehensive care for mothers who are hospitalized as part of a high-risk pregnancy. The unit's nursing staff is skilled in caring for both the physical and emotional needs of a woman during this important time. Additionally, Winnie Palmer Hospital has a Women's Intensive Care Unit to serve expectant mothers who have complications and need 24 hours of intensive maternal or perinatal care before and/or immediately following delivery.

Special Deliveries

The Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Winnie Palmer Hospital is capable of the highest level of care for high-risk newborns. More than 35,000 babies have been successfully treated since the unit opened more than 30 years ago, and our NICU consistently demonstrates the best outcome statistics in Florida for low birth-weight babies. Transportation services are available should a newborn baby need to be transferred to Winnie Palmer Hospital for highly specialized care.
