When it comes to making healthcare decisions, it's important for you to have useful information from trusted sources. Orlando Health supports efforts to make hospital comparison data as available to the public as possible. We provide the following information as a service to you as you begin the journey of choosing healthcare services.
Many of the methods below focus on a hospital's ability to provide the best care for certain types of patients the most often. This can be difficult to measure because each patient's case is different and outcomes can not always be predicted. In addition, the collection of data for healthcare facilities is a challenging, continuously changing science. Therefore it is important to compare as many quality measurement types as possible so as to form the most complete picture of a hospital's total quality of care before making a final decision.
1) Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) – Here, you can find quality and performance information on specific conditions and procedures in Florida's short-term acute care facilities, hospitals and ambulatory (outpatient) surgery centers.
2) The Joint Commission – Want your child’s hospital to have the stamp of approval nationally? This respected, independent, not-for-profit organization evaluates and accredits more than 15,000 healthcare organizations and programs in the United States.
3) Hospital Compare – Get a snapshot of the hospitals in your area and how they’re performing in areas such as patient experiences, timely and effective care, and more.
4) The Picker Institute Patient Satisfaction Surveys – What’s important to most patients during a hospital stay may also be important to you and your family. We’ve partnered with the Institute to obtain feedback from our patients in categories like comfort, safety and coordination of care.
