At Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies, we are committed to caring for all aspects of our patients’ health and wellbeing. Life doesn’t always go according to plan. Sometimes, disappointments or complications occur that make coping difficult.
The Arnold Palmer Medical Center Patient and Family Counseling team is here to help. Our licensed counselors are skilled in addressing a variety of questions, concerns and needs that patients and their families may have throughout a patient’s course of care.
Our counselors work with patients and their families, and are available 24/7 to provide healthcare intervention and support. We provide support services for a broad range of psychosocial issues and concerns that surround a pregnancy, birth of a premature or sick newborn, surgery, hospitalization or illness, including:
- Adjustment to diagnosis
- Anxiety and depression
- Behavioral issues
- Bereavement/grief issues
- Chronic illness
- Dealing with suicidal thoughts
- Discharge planning
- Domestic violence
- Mental illness evaluation, diagnosis and treatment facilitation
- Postpartum depression
- Pregnancy problems
- Referrals to community resources
- Substance abuse
- Teen mothers (16 and younger)
Patients and their families can get the support they need from our counselors who have experience in working with both adults and children.
