Ocoee, FL (October 12, 2021) – Today physicians and team members at Orlando Health – Health Central Hospital staged an intimate reunion ceremony for a COVID-19 survivor who spent 40 days in the hospital’s critical care unit. Maureen Woods, 56, returned to the very same patient room to thank the joyous team of healthcare workers who played such vital roles in saving her life.

Residents of the facility’s memory care unit joined loved ones, team members and community supporters as they walked and wheeled around the planned parade route just outside the facility’s front door. The nearly 70 participants wore t-shirts bearing the purple ribbon symbolizing Alzheimer’s awareness and carried purple pinwheels bearing the names of loved ones suffering from the disease.

The honors are in the acute care and ambulatory care settings. Orlando Health’s level 8 designations are a result of the organization having deployed technologies and strategies to help analyze data, achieved meaningful clinical and efficiency outcomes and introduced advanced technologies, like telehealth, to expand access to care. With the level 8 certifications, Orlando Health is designated a ‘Most Wired” organization by CHIME.

Orlando, Fla. (October 29, 2021) – At a near full term pregnancy, Paola Gambini, began her 85-day hospital stay when difficulty breathing from COVID-19 led to an emergency C-section. The newborn was delivered at Orlando Health Winne Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies. Due to the severity of her condition, Paola was soon transferred to Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center for the duration of her care. The 32-year-old mom is now reunited at home with her baby and family.

St. Petersburg, FL – (October 22, 2021) – Bayfront Health St. Petersburg recently announced Board Certified cardiothoracic surgeon John C. Brock, MD, F.A.C.S. and award winning cardiologist Dennis M. Cassidy, MD, as the newest additions to the hospital’s growing staff. The two doctors will join the cardiology department at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.

First-time mother Martine Holden did her best to prepare for the birth of her daughter: She read all the suggested books, took the recommended classes and created a delivery plan that included her obstetrician and a doula team.

Ryan Williams, MD, will serve as director for Bayfront Health St. Petersburg Medical Group’s new Colorectal Surgery Department. This new service line will work with patients seeking support with colon and rectal related issues. Prior to this new role, Dr. Williams served as the vice chief of surgery for Bayfront Health St. Petersburg since 2020.

The officials unveiled the first free permanent sunscreen dispensers, sponsored by Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. The sunscreen dispensers are located at four points on the St. Pete Pier – on the fishing deck, near the restrooms adjacent to the Discovery Center, across from the Spa Beach Bistro and near the stairs leading to Spa Beach, which is where the unveiling occurred.
