About Orlando Health Cancer Institute

Orlando Health Cancer Institute has been providing exceptional and compassionate care in Central Florida for more than 40 years, led by the best cancer doctors in our state-of-the-art facilities.

When you come to us for your care, you are in good hands. Your team will be led by doctors, advanced practice providers, nurses and other experts who have special training to create the best possible treatment plan for you.

We understand the importance of being close to home, family and friends during cancer treatment. That's why we offer high-quality care throughout Central and West Florida.

Our tertiary center is the Charles Lewis Pavilion, a 10-story, 220,000-square-foot facility with 90 private inpatient beds dedicated to our oncology units. The multidisciplinary cancer facility contains the services needed for your care – from diagnosis through all phases of treatment and follow-up. We also provide care at more than 20 locations across Central and West Florida as we continue an expansion that will eventually reach from coast to coast.

Our team includes more than 100 sub-specialized surgical oncologists, hematologists, medical and radiation oncologists and radiologists. We also have more than 75 advanced practice providers and a large supporting team of pathologists, nurses, therapists and researchers.

Since our beginning in 1983 as the ORMC Center for Cancer Treatment, we’ve treated more than 100,000 patients a year. We measure our success one patient at a time. When you choose Orlando Health Cancer Institute, you can be sure you are getting the most innovative and advanced treatments and technologies.

In 2016, the institute opened the $25 million Marjorie and Leonard Williams Center for Proton Therapy, the only one of its kind in Central Florida and one of five in the state. It allows the targeting of tumors with higher doses of radiation, while significantly reducing damage to healthy tissue.

Since then, our radiation therapy program has continued to evolve. We were the first in Central Florida to introduce image-guided radiation therapy technology, and later the first to add the Ethos CT-guided radiation therapy machine. The Ethos harnesses the power of AI to help our doctors quickly customize treatment plans to target tumors and minimize damage to surrounding tissue. We also offer stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), a cancer treatment that can be administered in just five sessions.

Doctors at Orlando Health Cancer Institute also participate in numerous research studies and clinical trials, which brings leading-edge treatment options to our patients. Among these recent advances is the groundbreaking Tumor-Infiltrating Lymphocytes (TIL) Treatment. Our team helped pioneer this protocol, which treats aggressive, late-stage melanoma and other advanced cancers. As part of our mission of bringing tomorrow's treatments to our patients today, a chief scientific and innovation officer has joined our team to further our clinical trial program with novel therapies.

Our surgical advances are also changing the way some cancers are treated, offering new diagnostic tools, higher precision and better outcomes for our patients. Among them:

  • Our surgeons use robotic assistance to enhance the effectiveness of the Whipple procedure, which removes pancreatic cancer tumors.
  • Advances in microsurgery are enable our reconstructive surgeons to return nipple sensation after a mastectomy for breast cancer.
  • Artificial intelligence helps our thoracic surgeons detect lung cancer lesions that previously would have been inaccessible.
  • New fertility-sparing approaches, using robotic assistance, are available for surgeries to treat gynecologic cancers, with decreased occurrences of lymphedema.

The institute has a Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program, which launched in 2020, that uses autologous and allogeneic BMT and Car-T cell therapy to treat adult blood cancers, including leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma. The program targets high-risk patients, including those with comorbidities such as heart disease or uncontrolled cancer.

The program has been recognized for three consecutive years as one of only eight “over-performing” centers in the nation by the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research. No other adult bone marrow transplant center in Florida has received this distinction, earned with CAR-T transplant patient survival outcomes that beat predicted benchmarks by 20 percent. The program has also earned accreditation from the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), which sets the global standard for the highest quality of patient care in cellular therapy.

In 2025, we opened a new outpatient infusion center in downtown Orlando that expands our infusion chairs to 48 – doubling our previous capacity – and includes four private rooms. Our other outpatient infusion centers are in Dr. Phillips, Ocoee, Lake Mary and St. Cloud.

The institute’s Cancer Genetics and High-Risk Care Center – the only one of its kind in Central Florida – focuses on patients identified as high risk for cancers by personal history, family history or genetic testing. Ann oncologist and genetic counselor work closely with patients to build a roadmap for the future, including surveillance, a risk-reduction plan and lifestyle changes.

At Orlando Health Cancer Institute, our care approach goes beyond clinical treatments. We believe it is essential to give you personal care and to support you throughout your medical treatment. We do this by offering a range of complementary therapies, including yoga, meditation, music therapy and creative arts. Among our unique offerings is the Arts in Medicine program, which allows infusion therapy patients to take part in creative arts while receiving treatment. And at our main location, we have a labyrinth modeled after the one at Chartres Cathedral in France, used for walking meditation and calming exercise.

No matter what cancer diagnosis you face, Orlando Health Cancer Institute will give you specific, high-quality treatment, including psychosocial support, with clinical expertise guiding all decisions. We have one in Winnie too that is so beautiful, but I am not sure how to put that in here.

Our Locations

We have treatment locations in Ocoee, Clermont, Dr. Phillips, downtown Orlando, St. Cloud and Lake Mary, as well as our newest location in St. Petersburg, along with more than 15 practice locations to serve our patients from all over the state.

Our first and largest campus is our state-of-the-art Charles Lewis Pavilion in downtown Orlando. The 10-story building is 220,000 square feet. The Charles Lewis Pavilion offers all the services and support you need from diagnosis through treatment and beyond.

Testimonial background

I Choose an Incredible Institute to Stay Golden.

Everyone that works there is just fabulous. You couldn't ask for better people. Everyone that’s there has been trained so well or they’re just naturally good people.

It was a miracle.

I was the first one [to receive a double-cord transplant] at Orlando Health. It was a miracle! The care team here … they’re amazing. It’s been a year and a half after the transplant. I’m healthy, I love my family, I live my life.

I'm Going To Beat This

When I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, it wasn’t a hard decision. Because of the care I received the first time for the breast cancer, I knew that the best care that I would get would be through Orlando Health.

Cancer Institute Patient

I'm not taking that lying down. Just watch me.

They had my chest CT scan up on the computer, and Dr. Thomas had this big old grin on his face. He said, ‘Let me show you something. See this image of your lung here? That tumor is gone.’

Toni

Toni

Cancer Institute Patient

It was a fear always in the back of my mind.

I feel like I’m on my way… If I follow through the plan and stay on the plan, I’ll make it to the other side.

We never looked back ... it was a big win.

“The idea of leaving our home and our child and our support system to go through this thing that he might not even survive was devastating,” remembers John’s wife, Aubrey, after diagnosis of a very rare, aggressive cancer. Turns out, Orlando Health Cancer Institute, right in their hometown, offered John his best chance of survival.
